Async/Await in JavaScript
I seem to have rare understanding of how Promises and async/await in JavaScript actually work, possibly because over the 2010s I had to get deep into every single iteration of the hacks the community was putting out.
Circa 2018-2019, I converted a lot of VRChat's legacy Node.js backend to use modern async/await patterns. I may have made some internal docs, and then this presentation grew out of it.
So, here are the slides from a talk on JavaScript's async/await syntax, Promises, and the event loop, that I delivered to VanJS in March 2019. I don't think I have the notes, I just spoke extemporaneously.
